"What we make–it's like a thumbprint. You can't ever match it to something else."

MATT'S STORY
I was raised around tools and craftsmanship. My father, Bruce, maintained a small woodworking shop in our home where he built dulcimers, and from an early age I developed an appreciation for working with my hands. My grandfather, Jack, welcomed me into his projects as well—whether building a deck or tackling smaller jobs—instilling in me both practical skills and a strong work ethic.
Construction and carpentry run deep in my family. My great-grandfather, Harvey, was a carpenter in Columbus, and I’m proud to carry on that legacy. I was fortunate to inherit his tools, which serve as a daily reminder of the tradition of craftsmanship I strive to uphold.
Throughout my career, I’ve been equally fortunate to learn alongside highly skilled professionals, including my best friend, a Journeyman cabinet maker and highly respected general contractor, as well as many other talented carpenters who generously shared their knowledge and experience.
I founded my business in 2009, beginning as a handyman. Over the past 17 years, I’ve steadily expanded my expertise across multiple facets of construction. This hands-on journey has given me a deep appreciation for the planning, precision, and dedication required to transform a client’s vision into a finished product built to last.
There were many challenging years along the way. Finances were often tight, and building a career was rarely smooth or predictable. My wife, Ashley, played a crucial role during those times. She worked in healthcare before transitioning into medical coding, eventually securing a remote position that provided much-needed stability for our family. That support gave me the opportunity to continue investing in my growth as a carpenter.
Somewhere along the way I had realized that I had built more than just experience—I had built a business. My background is in sales, a field I never particularly enjoyed, yet I now find myself selling my work every day. The difference is that this no longer feels like a sales pitch. Instead, I simply share what I’m passionate about creating. Seeing others appreciate that work is incredibly rewarding. What we make-its like a thumbprint. You cant ever match it to something else.
